Haunted House...

What are the rules of selling a house that has a history of being haunted or if there has been a death in the house? Most people don't know that it is sometimes illegal to keep the information of a death within 3 years of owning the house, that is information that you must give out. Some states do not enforce this law and let it be sold as common knowledge that the house is haunted. This kind of property is called, "stigmatized property" and it must be known before the owner can sell the house. This particular section of the real estate class I took last semester was very interesting and it was stressed that it is a good idea to tell the potential buyers of anything that may be happening because chances are they are going to find out somehow. Definitely an interesting thing to talk about and I hope it caught your attention at least a little bit.

  1. Is there any way to look for those type of houses in particular? I think it would be awesome to have a house with a bit of a sorted history

  2. Yeah actually. There are some places that will advertise that kind of stuff to let people know just because there is a market for those kinds of houses. I have heard of people that will do that with hotels too. They search for hotels that are haunted because they like that kind of thing. Personally, I would be getting away from it haha.
